Charity begins at home
6/15/2011
Dear Friends in Christ,
We just celebrated the Feast of Ascension and Pentecost of our Lord.
Blessed Virgin Mary and the Apostles received the Holy Spirit on the day of the Pentecost. They were transformed by the grace of the Holy Spirit,
The Apostles became new people, courageous and went around the world, preached the gospel and evangelized the whole world. That is why we are now the followers of Jesus.
As we all believe that we received the faith from the apostle, St Thomas, who brought the faith to India. Now we are grateful to Him.
The apostles continued the mission of Jesus as Jesus commanded. We made a commitment to Jesus on the day of Baptism to continue the mission of Jesus in our daily lives.
There is a saying that Charity begins at home. First we must start our mission work in our own community. What is very important for our community now is our own place of worship. Both communities of San Antonio and McAllen started later. But now McAllen has their own church and San Antonio bought five acres for their new church.
So I would like to ask all the parishioners to think about making a generous contribution every year (maybe 1,000 Dollars) so that we can buy the land to build our own church and to have our own place of worship in Austin.
This will be a great step in our way of continuing the mission of Jesus in our St. Alphonsa Catholic Community of Austin. This will also be a great treasure for the spiritual life of your children.
I hope you pray and take a favorable decision for our community.
Yours in the Risen Lord,
Fr. Prince Kuruvila
Spiritual Director
