Aug 28, 2011 - Musical night with Padum Pathiri
The world renowned musician and priest from Thrissur, Rev. Dr. Paul Poovathingal (aka Padum Pathiri) celebrated the mass with us today. He is the first priest to get a Ph.D in Carnatic Music, and is a disciple of Padmabhusan Dr. K J Yesudas and Chandramana Narayanan Namboothiri. The mass was sponsored by Jaison & Maria (thankgiving) and Jiby & Shany (in memory of Shany's father's 9th death anniversary).
The mass was followed by a two hour long musical extravaganza where Fr. Paul effortlessly juggled Hindustani and Carnatic music. The melodious ensemble consisted of devotional Christian songs with a
classical touch, as well as popular songs from Malayalam, Hindi & Tamil movies.
The concert was an enthralling experience for the audience. The music was sometimes gentle and hypnotic and sometimes dynamic and captivating.The musical eve culminated in a sumptuous dinner sponsored by James Xavier & Rajamma, Leo Mathew & Mini and Sajan Lukose & Tinku.
