May 29, 2011 - Graduation, Farewell
Fr. Joseph Suneet celebrated the mass with us today. The Mass (followed by Oppeez) and the sumptuous dinner were sponsored by Mr.George Varghese & Family, Mr. Jolly Vargese & Family and Mrs. Ann Mathen & Family in memory of their beloved parents.
We had mixed emotions that day: of sadness and of pride.
Sadness streaked across the community when it was announced after the Mass that our beloved Fr. Suneet will be leaving to India in July upon the completion of his mission in the United States. Fr. Suneet has been a vibrant presence in the Austin Diocese as well as one of our Spiritual advisors over the past five years.
He will be returning to India to resume services to our fellow Indians in the area. Mr. Sunny Thomas and Mr. James Xavier presented mementos to Fr. Suneet on behalf of our community. During our gathering at the Family center, Fr. Suneet cut a special Farewell cake as well.
You will always hold a special place in our hearts, dear Fr. Suneet.
Four Graduates & One Missionary
Five of our beloved youngsters made us proud with their recent accomplishments. Kevin Gailson, Jane George, Anisha Paul and Noble Thomas graduated from the Austin area high schools with flying colors and will soon be embarking on the next phase of their lives. We congratulated and partook in their joy after the Mass. Fr. Suneet presented each of the young grads with a gift, on behalf of our community.
Also, Anson Varghese, who will soon be leaving for his Mission in Japan , gave the community a small briefing about his trip.
