We celebrated first mass by Fr. Jose Varickamackal after being appointed as our Spiritual Director on Jan 29th. We welcomed Neil (Son of Binu & Deepa) to our community. Thanks to Mr Roy Kurian and Mr.Jeffy & Molly for sponsoring the mass. The new committee members sponsored the snacks.

Christmas 2011
Rev.Fr. Jose Varikamackal celebrated the Christmas Eucharist in Malayalam on Sunday, the 25th of December 2011 at 4.30 pm. This Mass is offered by Mathew Joy & Mariamma Thomas and was followed by a Christmas dinner and a baby welcome party. We welcomed Mathew Joy and Mariamma's daughter Jemma Mathew to our church. Congratulations to the proud parents & Merry Christmas to al of you.

Rev.Dr. Augustin Palackaparambil is a writer and worked as Prof. at St.Thomas College, Principal at Deva Matha College, Manager at St. Joseph Engineering College and now he is the Vicar of St. Thomas Syro Malabar Church, California.

This year's Caroling provided that traditional feel of the season and set the ambiance for Christmas. It was a very intimate event and everybody seemed to love the chance to talk to each other while the songs set the right moods for the fellowships.
Thanks to the team who organized it and thanks to all the Carolers. Also most importantly, thanks to all who welcomed us to their homes. It was great fun to see you all. I am sharing the pictures, my Elves took during our visit. Hope you'll like it.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Manappuram celebrated the Holy Mass with us today. The mass was offered by Anil Thomas & family as Thanksgiving. The mass was followed by Oppees in remembrance of 9th death anniversary of Anup Joseph's father E.A Joseph. After the mass, prizes were distributed to Winners from various competitions held during the church picnic.
We also welcomed baby Joshua (Jinson and Manju's son) and baby Daniel (Jeane and Binod's son) to our community. Congratulations to the proud parents.
The dinner was sponsored jointly by Jinson Koppanalil, Anil Thomas and Anup Joseph along with their families.
Onam 2011
We celebrated Onam, the State festival of Kerala, Austin Malayalee Catholic “ishtyle” amidst Prayers, Vaadyamelam, Pookkalam, Sadhya and Fellowship on September 25th, 2011. Fr. Pius Thekkevayalil celebrated the mass with us today. After the mass, Fr. Pius blessed the statue of St. Alphonsa, donated to the church by Sunny Thomas and family. The mass was followed by a grand nine course Onam Sadya served on banana leaf.

Aug 28, 2011 - Musical night with Padum Pathiri
The world renowned musician and priest from Thrissur, Rev. Dr. Paul Poovathingal (aka Padum Pathiri) celebrated the mass with us today. He is the first priest to get a Ph.D in Carnatic Music, and is a disciple of Padmabhusan Dr. K J Yesudas and Chandramana Narayanan Namboothiri. The mass was sponsored by Jaison & Maria (thankgiving) and Jiby & Shany (in memory of Shany's father's 9th death anniversary).

June 12, Day of the Pentecost
Today’s mass was sponsored by Mr. Salphy Mathew & Sinimol Jose. Rev. Dr. Geo Thadikkattu, the renowned orator, writer and scholar from Kerala celebrated the mass with us on the Day of the Pentecost.
Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Virgin Mary and the disciples of Christ fifty days after the Resurrection of Jesus.The feast also commemorates the official inauguration of the Christian Church by the apostolic preaching of St. Peter, resulting in the conversion of 3000 Jews to the Christian faith. Pentecost is thus the official birthday of the Church.
After the mass, Rev. Dr. Thadikkattu blessed the young ones present at the Church.

May 29, 2011 - Graduation, Farewell
Fr. Joseph Suneet celebrated the mass with us today. The Mass (followed by Oppeez) and the sumptuous dinner were sponsored by Mr.George Varghese & Family, Mr. Jolly Vargese & Family and Mrs. Ann Mathen & Family in memory of their beloved parents.
We had mixed emotions that day: of sadness and of pride.
Sadness streaked across the community when it was announced after the Mass that our beloved Fr. Suneet will be leaving to India in July upon the completion of his mission in the United States. Fr. Suneet has been a vibrant presence in the Austin Diocese as well as one of our Spiritual advisors over the past five years.

We celebrated easter on Feb 24th at Dolores Church. Fr. Jose Varickamackal celebrated the mass with us and gave an inspiring easter message. The mass was offered as a thanks giving mass by Dhev Kollannur and Marita. We also had a traditional easter dinner at the family center.

We got together at Mr. Varghese and Mrs. Lizamma's house to observe 'Pesaha' on April 21st.
We shared Pesha appam and palu as per our tradition and had kanji and payar afterwards. Sijo led singing of 'pana', he also explained the significance and origin of this tradition.

The St Alphonsa Church Committee met on April 2nd, 2011 and on behalf of the Church, expressed their heartfelt condolence on the death of Mar Varkey Vithayathil, the Archbishop of Syro-Malabar Church.
Mr. James Xavier presented the Motion of Condolence and the committee passed it unanimously.

We celebrated the 22nd anniversary of Fr. Philip's Ordination at the Dolores Church. After the mass, Fr. Philip cut the cake at the Family Center and Fr. Prince Sang a "Happy Birthday" song for him. It was 22 years ago that Fr. Philip started his spiritual life as a priest. Fr. Philip thanked the community & the Choir for making it a memorable event.
Via Dolorosa (Stations of the Cross) - 2011
During the Lenten season, Catholics of all ages will be spending the 40 days reflecting on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. One of the ways that communities relive the path of the Lord to His final hours on earth is through the Stations of the Cross. At Dolores church, we will have Stations of the Cross in Malayalam language before or after our Malayalam mass. On the second Sunday of the month, this will be after the mass and on the last Sunday, before the mass.
